All Saints Centre Kings Heath

A purpose-built centre in the heart of Kings Heath, attached to the historic All Saints Church and fronted by the newly developed Village Square.

Village Square

The Kings Heath Village Square. Somewhere special for everyone.

The Square is an unusual experiment in urban planning because it has so many of the qualities of open, park-like space whilst being just steps away from buses and shops.  A bit like the old village green (with fountains rather than a duck pond!).  Loving care goes into the upkeep of this special place by a dedicated team of gardening volunteers and other helpers.  Our project arose from the original vision to make the whole site – incorporating All Saints Church, a health centre, projects for local young people and the vulnerable elderly and a community cafe, together with a hall and other rooms hired out to all manner of local groups and individuals – a place for wellbeing and healing for the whole community.

Winner of two national design awards, here are just a few of the comments people have made about the Square:

‘A restful place, a meeting place‘,
A fantastic space to sit, have coffee and contemplate
A beautiful space at the centre of Kings Heath
A focus, a heart
A calm oasis amid the shops and traffic
It helps me to get to know people
So much going on – something for everyone
A safe place to play

Designed by the local community for the people of the community,  the Square has a growing reputation for events of all kinds.  We have a regular Farmers’ Market on the first Saturday of each month.  A popular Craft Market  throughout the year.  In addition, many businesses and voluntary agencies use the Square for promotion and sharing information, and it is available for hire.

We  run many musical and arts events, including celebrations and ‘walks’ around our Labyrinth, music and dance of all styles from drumming to samba, brass band to breakdance.  Tai Chi, carols, water play, teddy bears’ picnics, barbecues, weddings and table tennis and of course our famous New Year’s Eve celebrations
