All Saints Vicarage stands right in the centre of our site, where the new Health Centre and other development has to go. So we need to replace the Vicarage, and relocate it at the edge of the site, on Vicarage Road .

Our architects, Cottrell & Vermeulen, at first put us in touch with an environmentally-orientated Government research project on the reuse of reclaimed building materials and then came up with an imaginative design. This not only attracted considerable interest in the congregation, among the local community and from the City Council but was also very much in keeping with the aims and values of the Development Project. Unfortunately, despite our architects' best efforts, it has proved impossible to keep costs within limits which could be guaranteed and this route has had to be abandoned.

We are grateful to the Diocese of Birmingham for subsequently taking on responsibility for providing the new Vicarage. This will be built using conventional materials but will still be aesthetically appropriate to its context as part of the Development Project.

The Project and the Diocese have agreed that the Project will need to raise a minimum of £60,000 toward the total costs, which will be around £200,000.
